[Review] The Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcakes are a MUST have!

“Oh my!” If you are a fan of Chocolate and Peanut Butter, you MUST have one of the Chocolate with Peanut Butter Mousse Cupcakes. They are amazing! We just had them for my birthday this last weekend and I look forward to ordering from Patty’s Cakes in the near future. Also, my mom brought back one of the Lemon Cupcake Balls for me to try and I must say, it was to die for. SO AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!

[Review] The frosting is amazingly light, fluffy and tasty

“Just got done eating the vanilla/chocolate chip cupcake. Oh. My. Goodness. The frosting is amazingly light, fluffy and tasty. I also bought an Elvis, Chocolate/Choc Chip, Choc PB, Vanilla PB, Lemon and Red Velvet for my staff. Hope they enjoy them as much as I enjoyed mine!”

[Review] What I found in the center was surprising, there was cream in the center!

As many others have said, this place is hidden.  It’s in the Albertson’s parking lot and the store front is facing Commonwealth.  When I entered, there was no cupcakes in the display case, just the cake balls.  I was greeted by a guy, who was very nice.  I asked if they still had the yelp deal and he said yes and that I was probably the 5th person within the hour that came in asking about the deal.

He gave me a sheet with the cupcake selections and he said they will frost the cupcakes to order.  I made my selection quickly (red velvet, white cake with chocolate fudge, chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse, and banana with cream), and he said they have them out soon and to help myself to the complimentary beverages.  I wasn’t thirsty at the time so I didn’t take advantage of it.  While I waited for my cupcakes, a woman and her daughter walked in, to pick up a cake for a birthday.  I would have to say the cake she purchased looked delicious.  Soon after she left, the guy behind the counter presented me with my cupcakes which were nicely decorated.

Once I got home I wanted to dig into one of the cupcakes, so I picked red velvet.  The frosting on the cupcake isn’t like most places, it seem more like a whipped cream topping and many other places it’s like royal icing.  I cut the cupcake in half, I don’t like eating a whole cupcake in one sitting, and plus I know my sister would want to eat some because that is her favorite favor of cake.  What I found in the center was surprising, there was cream in the center!  The cake was moist and fluffy, a big plus for me and the frosting wasn’t too sweet.  Even my mom, who is not a cupcake fan or even a dessert fan like the cupcakes, thought the cupcakes were pretty good, she picked the chocolate cake with PB mousse.  I had a bite of the choco with PB mousse, it was great, the frosting had a nice PB taste.  The banana cake, on the other hand was not my favorite, the cake didn’t have a very banana taste to it, the cream on top wasn’t too bad but it more of a Bavarian cream texture and taste, somewhat pudding/custard like.

Even after 4 days, I cut opened the last cupcake, white cake with choco fudge, the cake was a little moist still.  Though, I think it had to do with the cream in the center that helped maintain the moisture.  Overall, I would go back to this place again.  Maybe even buy a cake for a birthday.

[Review] This Place is a Real Hidden Gem. Cupcakes, Cakes or Cakeballs Galore!

“Yum yum yum!

This place is a real hidden gem. Tucked behind the Albertson’s you’ll find the cutest place offering a nice flavor selection whether its cupcakes, cakes or cake balls galore!

This is my first visit and was drawn immediately to the chocolate cupcake topped with peanut butter mousse frosting. I mean, can you go wrong with this kinda combo!?!

Sweetness level in the mousse was just right and tasted light. The cake part was fluffy and moist. AND I was totally delighted when I bit into the light creme filling at the center of this cupcake! How fun, right!!!

No need to complicated things. Red velvet when done right only needs to be simple & sweet, which Patty’s has gotten the magic recipe for because the red velvet cupcake was also delicious!

By the way, it’s really Patty who is whipping up these delicate desserts in the back! I really like it when I find these shops that have that extra touch and in this case, Patty’s extra touch! Their yummy desserts look professional (unlike the ones you buy by the dozen in a plastic case) and service was super friendly.

I totally bought I bunch of cake balls and cupcakes to share and everyone I shared it with really enjoyed them, so go get some!!!”

[Review] Cupcakes Are Always Moist, And The Cream Cheese Frosting Is Perfection

“I love cake, and Patty’s Cakes and Desserts only make me love cake that much more! The cakes and cupcakes are always moist and the frosting is whipped and light. The cream cheese frosting is perfection. It is light, tastes like cream cheese and isn’t overbearing. I used to always remove the frosting from cupcakes and cakes, but I do not dare remove the frosting from anything that comes from Patty! Let me state for the record that I do not like banana flavored pastries, cakes or breads. I reluctantly tried a banana cupcake and ohmygoodness, it was delish! The flavor was so light. You got the right amount of banana without having felt like you just ate a bunch of bananas.
Last but not least, I highly recommend the peanut butter frosting on chocolate combo. It gives you the satisfaction of the peanut butter and chocolate combo. Go visit the shop today and try some of her amazing baked goods!”

It was a classy, yet fierce dash for the cupcakes

Monday, June 7th, 2010

As Christina will tell you, graduating from Alliant International University with Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology was no easy task. As it turns out neither was getting a cupcake at her graduation party in Granada Hills, CA. We baked an array of cupcakes for her guests to enjoy, including; chocolate peanut butter, white cake, carrot cake, and red velvet with cream cheese filling. Once dinner was over, friends and family made a fierce (yet classy) dash for the cupcakes. Before you knew it, they were all gone! They disappeared so fast the graduate didn’t have time to grab her favorite-a chocolate peanut butter cupcake.  She ended up going to great lengths to get one, but that’s a story we’ll save for another time.  =)

Update: We just received a review from Christina:

“Last night was my graduation party and one of the dessert options I had was cupcakes. I order 5 dozen from Patty Cakes; 2 red velvet, 1 peanut butter/chocolate, 1 vanilla and 1 carrot cake. My family and friends are some of the toughest food critics I know, so when I saw that every cupcake was taken above the other dessert options I had, I knew I made a wise choice in ordering from Patty Cakes. Throughout the night I was stopped by my guests who inquired about Patty Cakes and plan to order from in the future. I had a red velvet and chocolate peanut butter cupcake; both were pure heaven! The carrot cake cupcakes also received rave reviews from my guests who were fortunate enough to grab one (or 2). The only mistake I made was not ordering more! I can’t wait to taste the other yummy dessert options Patty Cakes has to offer. Order from Patty Cakes!! You won’t be disappointed.‎ “
