[Review] To die for cakes and cupcakes

Cinsi H. - Fullerton, CA - 5 Star rating via Yelp

Wow! I went there on a Saturday 10 minutes before closing and met the owner Patty. She was as nice as nice could be! The cake balls that were in the display case looked so pretty so I bought four; chocolate, chocolate chip and red velvet. Amazing!!!! The cake was delicious and the frosting was to die for. Can’t wait to go back and try the other flavors!!

[Review] Memorial day cakes and amazing cakeballs

Lisa P. - Buena Park, CA - 5 Star rating via Yelp

Patty and her son are the mother and brother to a good friend of mine, Mark Gomez. Mark had been bragging about how amazing his mom’s baked goods are for some time, so when he told me she was opening a bakery with his brother, I figured I’d better go check it out. I love to bake and get consistent compliments on my goodies, but I must say, the cake balls I got last weekend were the most amazing globes of decadent goodness!

I had been too busy to bake all I wanted for a big Memorial Day BBQ, so I rang up Patty’s Cakes and asked them to put together an assortment of a dozen cake balls. When I arrived about 30 minutes later, there was a line out the door – but it moved quickly and I had that little pink box cheerfully placed in my hot little hands within 4 minutes. The shop is tiny, but immaculate, cheerfully decorated, and super easy to find – even for a newbie to SoCal such as myself.

I arranged Patty’s pretty little cake balls on a nice platter alongside my semi-famous chewy and crisp toasted pecan, raisin oatmeal cookies….it was like viewing a contest between Miss Universe vs.: Bertha Butt….and my cookies got whacked in the appearance competition.

The assortment included the chocolate banana, S ‘Mores, and honestly, I don’t remember what else because once we started tasting and sharing them, it all became one big blurry blissful bite after another. I had asked them to go with an all chocolate theme, and boy did they deliver! They’re rich though, so we ended up cutting them into 4 pieces each and sharing, which was a great way to get to taste almost everything. The crowd went nuts for them….and when they were all gone, they finally ventured on to my ugly step-sister cookies – which tasted great, but were real plain Janes compared to Patty’s goodies. The only negative is the kids also went nuts for them too. I’ve never wanted to chase a little nose piker down and wrestle a cake ball away from them so bad in my life – but I thought the parents might frown upon that, so I refrained.

I ended up giving business cards to 4 parents there that day – and they all agreed; that the goods were so yummy, they’d happily drive in from Corona to get their special occasion cakes done by Patty’s Cakes.

Congrats on your new venture Patty & family! You are my official Go To Girl when I can’t get in the kitchen and whip something up – and coming from me, that’s a huge vote of confidence, because I’m super picky…now, if I could just get you to make your stuff look a little less perfect so I could try to pass it off as my own….
